I met a sloth on our family vacation, and believe it or not, that little creature taught me
something.

Sloths have the lowest metabolic rate of any non-hibernating mammal and up to 30%
less muscle mass than other mammals their size. Because their leaf-based diet doesn’t
provide many calories, they move slowly to conserve energy and make the most of what
they have.

At first glance, it might seem like they are lazy.
They aren’t.
They have adapted.

Generation after generation, they found a way not just to survive, but to thrive in their
own way, unapologetically.

It made me think about our own dreams.

We may not move as slowly as sloths, but how often do we pursue our goals with
steady persistence instead of dramatic leaps? How often do we keep showing up,
taking one step at a time, even when the world celebrates speed?

Sometimes people will look at your progress and assume you lack faith, ambition, or
passion, because you aren’t moving as quickly as they think you should.
Don’t take that to heart.

Not everyone is running the same race.
Not everyone has the same resources, responsibilities, or season of life.

Some of us are adapting while we build.
Some of us are conserving energy so we can keep going.
Some of us are carrying dreams while raising children, working jobs, caring for parents,
paying bills, healing, growing, and becoming.

And that’s okay.

Progress is still progress, no matter how slow it may seem.

The sloth doesn’t apologize for moving at its own pace. It simply keeps moving.

Maybe that’s the lesson.
Make every move matter.

Life isn’t perfect, but progress is still beautiful.
